The Trichoptera of Panama. Six new species and four new country records of microcaddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera: Hydroptilidae) from Mount Totumas Cloud Forest and Biological Reserve

There have been 179 species of microcaddisflies (Trichoptera: Hydroptilidae) recorded from the Republic Panama. Herein we describe 6 new Mount Totumas Cloud Forest and biological reserve, in Río Colorado watershed ( Leucotrichia cultrata, Metrichia akidion, M. plax, Ochrotrichia alma, O. paxilla, petersoni ). In addition, 1 under an informal designation report 4 country records for Panama this location angulosa Bueno-Soria Holzenthal, mechuda meta truncata Holzenthal), which were known previously only Costa Rica. These results are part ongoing effort to characterize aquatic insect fauna Panama, evaluate that country’s major watersheds. now 449 Trichoptera distributed 15 families 52 genera, including 189 microcaddisflies.
